Let the crazy busy season begin

Ok, I don't really expect it to get crazy until around Halloween, but I think it is creeping up early this year.. here is a sample of my weekend so far:
Friday:

  • rest day from running! I actually got 7 hours of sleep
  • missed the bus for Maesyn but decided to drive down the hill to the next bus stop to get her on the bus. At this point I was more than half way to the school, but she could not get dropped off at school until 8:20 and it was only like 7:45. I asked Maes if she just wanted me to take her home, but she opted to get on the bus. I think I drove all that way so I would not have to get the two little ones out of the car and then back in the car. Lazy. I think I am going crazy.
  • washed, dried and folded laundry like a crazy lady all morning and did not get it all done
  • picked maes up at school and took her and jake to a friends house to play
  • wal mart- get stuff for the trip (forgot a few things so i'll have to go back)
  • paid rent
  • took shoes to shoe repair
  • picked up kids and their friend and went back home to make food for church pot luck
  • pot luck
  • came home and crashed. Tired, even though I got plenty of sleep last night.
Saturday:
  • Woke up at 4:30 am
  • ran 12 miles
  • Home
  • Bathed kids - except jake- he does not like baths
  • Left house a mess
  • took kids to a parade
  • took kids to the park for a while
  • took kids to subway for lunch
  • took maes to singing practice
  • came home and cleaned a bit
  • nate left around 8:30 this morning to help out our friend with his grandpa in Springerville and then to cut wood- he came home around 4:30 I'm sure he is exhausted too.
  • Got ready for Relief Society broadcast and went
  • came home and ate and now I'm avoiding house work
Tomorrow:
  • Nate has meetings early in the morning.
  • Church
  • Make a Cheese Cake for Mikah's birthday
  • Rest???
Monday:
  • 4:30 am run
  • I'll take Maes to school
  • Schedule VT appointments
  • Mikah Dr. Appointment
  • Take car for trip check and oil change
  • Pick maes up at school
  • Maes music practice
  • Mikah's birthday dinner
  • Hopefully Nate will look at a SUV tomorrow and buy it- then we will be on the lookout for a trailer.
  • Hopefully get some packing done for our Utah camping and Marathon Trip
Tuesday:
  • Early morning workout
  • Pack the car more
  • VT? if i make appointments for that day
  • Library day
Wednesday:
  • Early morning workout
  • Finish Packing for trip
  • Evening Yoga
  • Get to bed early
Thursday
  • Early early head out to Zion. And the fun begins
In October we have Maesyn's concert and then we will also have Maesyn's October break- Not sure what the plans are

In November we will go to Disneyland with the family, I hope to run a big race, and Thanksgiving...and then of course we all know what the rest of the holidays entail.

Nate is also slightly interested in looking for a house sooner than later. We are planning on being in a new place by the time school gets out next year. Our lease is up at the end of November, but we are going to go month to month and we can stay until the place sells and he said he won't have us out until school is out. Rather than staying and waiting for it to sell and just having 30 days to find a new place, we have decided to make it our goal to have a place by then. In the mean time we need to save for a down payment!

Mikah is a full time walker. She is getting so super good at it- it seems she is running. She has been going strong for several weeks and hardly ever crawls. She is also proficient at the stairs. Sometimes I laugh at here and say she is not the sharpest tool in the shed because she will sometimes try to drink out of the wrong side of the bottle and when she first learned how to blow kisses she would just slap random parts of her face... but she is SMART. Today I asked her where her bottle was and she walked off looking for it. Never mind she picked up a spray bottle. It was on the way to her bottle, that she left in the kitchen. I'd like to think she got side tracked. I mean, how many times have I walked to the kitchen and then forgotten what I went in there for? She also wore pig tails today for the first time. I asked her to show Maesyn her pretty hair and she touched her head! She will sometimes wash her own hair in the bath.
She loves to try and say Hello and I love you. She give great long hugs too. She also like to pay with and tease Jake. They are buddies.

Jake is a terror at times. He keeps loosing his later bed time because of his bad choices. He is so cute still, and that is why we have not yet given him to the gypsies. We have been trying something new with our discipline. I will ask him to do something and if I have to ask 3 times then he gets spankings...starting with 3. So 3 strikes you're out. I ask him to do something, if I have to ask him again I remind him that once I ask 3 time that the spankings begin. He rarely gets to 3 times... so I thought it was working... until one day..... I told him that he would get some spankings and he asked" will they be hard?" as if he was trying to figure out if continuing the bad behavior would be worth it or not! Now I just find it more effective to threaten to throw away a prized toy. It worked at church...I mean the spanking thing is no good. Who is going to spank their kid at church. Not me. And Jake knows it. But threaten to throw at a sword and it all changes.

Maesyn is amazing. She is doing well in school and she loves to help her teacher. She helps other kids with their work too. I have been told that she is at the top of her class! She is reading like mad. She loves to read. We go to the library once a week and she does a page or 2 of home work and then we pick books and movies to check out. She will just sit on the couch and read books. She is also in a little singing and performing group. She loves it so far and she has been practicing her song in the back of the car. I think she might even keep the words in her back pack. No prompting from me, she just does it! She is a little big for her britches and gets along really well with older girls. I think that is because she spent so much time with Marisa and Corina in the valley.

I love my kids...

More on runing.

Runner's world this month has articles on running while pregnant and trail running. Sat and read a little on trail running while on the toilet today. I have probably said it before, but i feel like i am a new runner. I recently did some 800's and never thought I would like such a thing. But I am loving it- possibly because I have made my goal- and surpassed them for this training. My goal being the speed and amount that the training schedule required. I actually get excited to do the 800's ! I am ordering a book about running faster. Never thought I'd care. But I really want to bq.

I'm also looking at ultras. I think I can handle doing a few 50K's in the next few years. At first I was thinking if I jsut did one I could say I did an ultra. But I think I might want to do more...and even longer distances. But first I'll start with one. Maybe one 50K a year? Hopefully following a marathon so I can combine the training.

I liked reading the runner's world about the trail running though. We are not doing trail runs in fear of injury, but it would be nice to do a few a month while in maintenance stages. Here was a fun quote.

" These guys eat granola for breakfast and millage for lunch. For dinner, they eat whatever they want."
Not me at the moment. I'm really fretting about what I eat- trying to shed the last 5 lbs of my thighs that are a bit too snug for my pants. Or could it be the muscles that are growing because of my speed work (that are pushing out the fat that makes my pants tight)?

I don't know what it is that is driving me? I try not to let it interfere with my family. I get to go early and am done on the weekdays usually before they wake up. Also, I'm trying to make the races fun. I think carb loading out to dinner with the family will be fun and we will camp before the st. George marathon as a family trip. Zion. However, I feel like i'm monopolizing the early mornings. I do let Nate know that he is welcome to the mornings that I do not run. I used to try and run 5 mornings a week. We are just doing 4 now and I do Yoga one night a week. However, the group may switch to just 3 (as per the training in a book we are going to follow). I don't know. I might see if there is one or two gals that want to just do some nice slow recovery runs. Our 3 day training will be speed, tempo and long run. It is nice to have "junk" runs too. (most of my runs- except long runs- were junk miles until I moved up here).
