Campin at Hawley lake... Monsoon season style
I have joked before that it always rains when we camp. This trip was no exception! We did have fun with our good friends the Owens though. Nate and I headed back to town so he could sing in the talent show at the Pioneer Day celebration. Lots of " flat landers" were there. One of his friends questioned why we would go camping when we already lived in the mountains. We had I explain that we do live in a regular house and have jobs up here.. We still like to go to the woods and lakes to camp! The kids caught a lt if craw dads and cooked them up. I swear jake could live in the woods!

Musical instrument museum
We have been wanting to go to this museum for a while and figured a hit summer day would be the very best time. Nate and Maesyn loved it the very most. They could have stayed a few more hours and read every single plaque. They had a room full of instruments for the kids to play and a family room full of toys that I took the kids to while Nate and Maesyn educated themselves. Nate said that someone walked past the glass walls to the family room an he heard them comment on the nice little family playing.... As if we were an exhibit! Ha ha?

Bucket of Blood
I wanted to run this race just for the shirt... That, as usual, was too big so I exchanged it for a men's medium for Nate to add to his collection of shirts from races he has supported me in! This was a small half marathon on a cross country course and it was killer. There was some confusion but I believe I was first in my age group and 3 rd femaleZ. I walked off with a prize though! There were a lot if festivities to follow and it was a good weekend. We stayed at the wigwam hotels and I so not recommend it at all. They had never updated it at all an it was not nostalgic. There were giant bugs and an old cord to a wall cooler that Ben tried to suck in. We are lucky he is alive. I freaked out a bit. We are planning in racing next year and staying at a different hotel. Btw. Nate and Steve ride from lakeside almost to Holbrook (it started getting dark). Like the wigwams, I do not recommend it. And like Ben, they are lucky to be alive!

Durango with the Clark's
Our good friends moved to Colorado. We went and did iron horse with them last year and Nate did it again this year while I was in Michigan with Maesyn. We really love that town and the Clark's and new we needed to go back this summer. We decided the 4 th of July and headed to Silverstein for the day. We picked up a violin at a garage sale and an extra guitar! Ha ha. Amy and I got in some good runs and we got to stay at the beloved koa cabins again. It is a great town and everybody wants you to move there. I have to admit I would like it a lot. Seems so perfect to me. However hen I thought about jumping up and going at the first opportunity it did not feel right ( as if we had an opportunity). Our time in Lakeside is not over. We are where we belong!

Busted up Ben
I am so happy that Nate works so close! Ben pulled a toy down and it hi his lip. He cried for a minute but I realized he had a pretty big gash! I called Nate, asked the neighbor to watch the other kids and we headed to urgent care. Newell sewed him up and said we could ask Taylor to take the stitches out when we got to Durango. Ben was not in a lot of pain with the cut, but whenever he smiled it would pull open and make me squirm!
